Stamped concrete is a great flooring to use on patios, sidewalks, driveways, pool decks and interior flooring. You can choose from among a wide selection of designs for your stamped concrete because it is very flexible. Stamped concrete is something very attractive and affordable that you can use this instead of using other materials like brick, slate or stone. The procedures for making stamped concrete has more steps that the usual concrete procedures. The first step is to introduce the base color. Then to accent the concrete, a highlight color is added, after which a final pattern is stamped into the concrete. Those additional procedures are the ones that create the color, shape and texture of stamped concrete. You can use a base color as a primary color to your concrete. You can choose from an unlimited number of colors for your base color. Introducing color to the concrete involves two major methods. Scattering or sprinkling a color hardener onto the concrete is the first method used. Color hardener is actually a powder pigment to dye the concrete by literally throwing it onto the surface of the concrete. The color hardened is sprinkled as soon as it is floated for the first time. When the hardener soaks in the concrete, then you float and trowel it in. The color of the concrete is only on the top surface but its benefit is that the concrete surface gets very strong and will last for a long time. The other method is called integrally colored concrete. With this method, you mix the color hardener to the entire volume of the concrete before pouring it out. The advantage of this method is that the entire concrete is colored, but the top surface is not as strong as the first method. You can then apply highlight color for base color enhancement. When color is highlighted is has the same effect that we get when we shade our art works. You can do the color highlighting during the time when the concrete is poured, or you can wait until after the concrete has set.
